The Jessalli Story

babyme4 2Hi, I’m Sophia- and this is me aged 3 with my Mum. I had an amazing childhood, growing up in Dorset with a large extended family. My days were spent feeding animals, playing with my cousins and frolicking in the mud with my little red wellies on! And when I wasn’t outside, I’d play in my little yellow bedroom surrounded by acrobatic clowns on the wall and colourful duplo on the floor.

My mum has sewn all my life. She made the costumes for my ballet class performances and school plays. She always stitched me little outfits to wear on special occasions. And the hum of a sewing machine is still a special nostalgic sound to me. As I got older she started to teach me! Simple hand sewing onto felt and cross stitched bookmarks. I remember when we went on holiday she’d always buy me a little cross stitch kit to do, to keep me occupied on lazy days in the sun- no idea where they all are now!baby me collage 2

Mum and Dad used to foster children under 2 and did part time child minding as well as looking after me, my sister and then my little brother too. My life has always been surrounded by kids. I could bottle feed a baby and change a nappy by the time my sister came aged 7! Mum always made the adopted babies a little scrapbook of their life with us, with pretty ribbons and patterns around cute photographs and pictures of their first laughs or first words. She’d also make cute pinafores or booties for them to wear. Everything was always a ‘keepsake’, something that had love and care put into it, to be treasured forever. And these things were all foundations to me starting Jessalli.

Jessalli is a Handmade Homewares company situated in the heart of my beautiful home county of Dorset.

Surrounded by beautiful green fields, where we get all of our inspiration from. I like to look at Dorset through Rainbow coloured glasses. Making beautiful scenes, landscapes and animals into bright, fun motifs, perfect for kids to be inspired!

Our original Dorset inspired products are still popular items. But we strive to bring you new and unique products all year round. From Colourful British wildlife motifs, Personalised Children’s Drawstring Bags to Bunting. We have fun, colourful, personal gifts for every member of the family. And that’s what gift giving is all about!

I also have a huge passion for teaching much needed basic sewing skills to children whilst having huge amounts of crafty fun! Just like my Mum did for me. Which is why I started Jessalli workshops, held in Sturminster Newton or your own home. Please see our workshop page for more details.

I want everyone to be able to buy something handmade, and not only as a quick colourful gift, but something you will treasure forever.

Personalised Children’s items are fabulous mementos of when they were young. Having a bright, colourful cushion with your name on shouldn’t be just for when they are little – they can take it to uni with them. Handmade items will last forever!

Most Jessalli products are made to order, and as they’re all handmade no two are the same, they’re all unique! If you don’t like our colour options that appear on our products, but love the item, don’t worry. Contact us either by email or phone and discuss what colours you’d like, you can either choose and give us your chosen fabric to work with or we can find it for you. Contact Us for more details.

After a couple years of selling my products at Markets and fairs, demand for Jessalli-wares was enough to open it up as a full time business in 2011. Thanks to my Mum Allison and Sister Bea, we’ve transformed a small home-based soft furnishings company into an established brand. And I am truly proud of that! Read all about our little team HERE.

We are expanding our business into many more outreaches and fields. If you are interested in working with us or stocking our items, do get in touch. I hope you enjoy browsing our site and I hope you find the perfect Jessalli-ware for you!
